p(ART)icipate
the om reunion project is about community. it is only as good as YOU make it!!! come to pARTicipate in every way you can.
we can’t wait to see your smiling face in the forest again for the upcoming summer solstice, as we celebrate the return of light-filled days with music, dancing, food, sharing, fun, learning, art, laughter, trees, water, sun, moon, sky, community and in:spiration.
::UPDATES::
:: THEMECAMPS! ::
It's always exciting to discover the themecamps with neat twists and magic that surprise and delight in the forests. Opening up your camp to everyone, making it interactive or designed around an interesting theme, a place for people to gather, invite them into your dreams! Explore your quirky interests, showcase your art and let your freak flag fly! DIY! Plan it with your friends this weekend!
Some of the exciting camps you may find in your travels through the forest include :: The Indigo Children Camp; Tea Leaf Readings; Omie Post Office, Tantra Tent, Soapbox Camp, Imagination Station; Puppet Theatre Camp; The Cozy Cactus Camp; Art Tent; Plounge; ... and more!
:: WORKSHOPS! ::
Re:juvenate your old skills and acquire new ones - this is the perfect place for you to teach and learn from your community. Create your festival experience by setting up a workshop - share your skills, social knowledge, healing, art or anything else that you are passionate about - and pass it on to the rest of us. Just write in the Topic, Place and Time of your workshop on the Workshop Board to gather together like minded people. Check the board to see what workshops YOU want to be part of!
This year some of the workshops you can attend include :: Safe Space Circles; Shamanic Journeying; Earth Chakra Toning; Improv Contact Dance; Working with Indigenous Communities; The Art of Zentangling; lots of Yoga; Community Circle Discussion; Meridians: Tracing our Body's Energy Pathways; Medical Intuition; Calendars and Post-Industrial Human Society; Screen Alchemy & Live Cinema; Hugging; Vocal Jamming for Everybody; Poly Workshop; Tantric Tents various workshops; ... ... and more!
here are some ways that YOU can P{ART}ICIPATE to make our gathering even greater!
LEAVE NO TRACE!
Pack it in, pack it out. Really!! We do not plan or budget to dispose of YOUR trash.... please make a plan to collect your garbage (don't let IT hit the ground) AND take it with you!!!
ACTIVISM, DIY & WORKSHOPS!
We all care about community and the earth which supports us ... it’s one of the things that brings us all together. why not co-create the festival experience by setting up a workshop? share your skills, social knowledge, healing, art or anything else that you are passionate about with the rest of us. let us know in advance and we can include your workshops in our website info and guide so that others will know and be there! Contact workshops@omreunionproject.org.
SAFER SPACES!
This year at the gathering we seek to cultivate development and enrichment of safer spaces for our community members -- men's and women’s healing circles, anti-oppression workshops, and other efforts to raise awareness and in:crease solid communication within the network of our community. if you would like to participate in:visioning or are interested in facilitating events or spaces, contact workshops@omreunionproject.org.
MOON BASS & HOME BASS!
SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS PASSED, SORRY!!!! ---> The line up and schedule will be released by June 1st ish!!!
ART INSTALLATIONS
Art is all around in many forms. Art is a way we communicate in deeper ways. What do you want to communicate? How can you communicate it in deeper ways? ORP is offering financial support to a few artists’ visions, so share something unique and awesome with your community!
Send in a submission to art@omreunionproject.org by deadline MAY 1st.
THEME CAMPS!
Members are encouraged to find a way to help make the land come alive for the week of the Solstice and one way we encourage participants to do that is to create THEME CAMPS.
Themecamps can be made by anyone - just get together with your friends to build an interesting and exciting space for people to gather - welcome people to your place in the forest - invite them into your dreams! Working on theme camps presents a unique opportunity to become involved in a collective project during the gathering while creating a space as unique as you are. These are spaces made up entirely by you and your group and often are what make the festival the most memorable.
Anything can be shared and created and with a little imagination can become a cool place to hang out and have fun in. Explore your quirky interests and share it with the community. Showcase your art and let your freak flag fly! Think of how you can enhance the solstice for others and what kind of neat twist will surprise and delight fellow members.
Gather some friends and come up with a theme, send us an email and we will make sure you have the space and just the right spot. Let us know how many people, what materials you will be using and how much space you need and we will do our best to make sure your dream theme can come true! Email us at themecamps@omreunionproject.org. Be sure to include all details of your vision including your leave no trace plan of action. We hope to hear from you soon! See you in the forest!
C.A.L.M - Centre for Alternative Living Medicine
The C.A.L.M tent is in need of holistic health practitioners who wish to share their skills with the community. If you wish to donate your time to create a relaxing and enjoyable environment for healing at this year’s gathering, or if you’re able to lend supplies such as massage tables, pillows, blankets or art, lets work together! If you would like to provide treatments or workshops we would love to hear from you CALM@omreunionproject.org.
YOGA at C.A.L.M
We would love for there to be ongoing Yoga experiences available to participants at the gathering. There is a large sunny field behind the C.A.L.M area that is great for Yoga. If you are interested please email Hala at CALM@omreunionproject.org.
RADIO!
Avast eh mateys the waves they shall be a rolling. We raise the mast, attach er to this magic box send some wires to other mystical devices and shiver me timbers an invisible mystical wave can be trapped inside a seashell located across the ocean (um er pond) ya put yer ear to it and listen to the sound of the sea - or some theatre, some blips and bloops, news reports, experimental mash ups or perhaps the unimaginable (to the landlubbers). Captains are required to guide this and other devices and crew is required for the long boats; please contact radio@omreunionproject.org.
ALTERNATIVE ENERGETICS!
In the past we had Alice the green bus providing solar power, ran coffee grinders with car batteries, attempted to erect a wind turbine in the middle of a forest, and, of course, relied on the hard work of decomposed plant and animal matter refined into a highly combustible substance that we burn. this year we want to take it to another level: a bicycle-powered water pump will replace the reliance on some veggie matter (the processed ones) we are also hoping to set up a small solar system to power some lights and the radio, wanna help/learn, can you generate some new ideas? Please contact energy@omreunionproject.org.
KITCHEN!
Kitchen would like to reel in some support. want to get right in, and take on some solid presence in our amazing outdoor kitchen? are you comfortable cooking for large groups? your experience is invaluable! best is a team! we need people good at orienting volunteers, as well as on the task of keeping things tidy and smoothly organized! we're looking for some solid shout outs! it's hard work in the kitchen, but as they say, hard work is heart work. and kitchen is the hearth/heart of the gathering. so let's get cooking. send us an email at kitchen@omreunionproject.org.
FILMED OM!
The “filmeD OM” is now in its fourth year of operation, and we are looking for collaborators to help with programming. if you have made a film, this is the place to bring it - we would love to see your work - cuz we’re doing our legendary ‘OPEN SCREENING’ night (any filmmaker that shows up with a film we’ll screen it!)! we would also love to hear what ideas you might have regarding spoken word, dance, acoustic and drone jams, immersive/interactive multimedia environments, or anything else that would be undoubtedly strange and beautiful to encounter when walking through the forest late at night. Let us know... filmdome@omreunionproject.org.
COFFEE’D OM!
Are you someone who can’t get enough of it? we are looking for baristas and staff to service our “coffee’D OM” cafe. to volunteer, drop a line to filmdome@omreunionproject.org.
THE GATHERING ZINE!
We want to make this year’s guide better than ever!!! do you have anything to contribute? visual art? poetry or words to share? get in touch with zine@omreunionproject.org by deadline JUNE 1.
LONG CREW!
One of the most rewarding ways of making the festival experience a transformative one is by joining the long crew team and helping to build the whole event from the ground up (and back again). if you are interested in joining long crew (or post-teardown crew) be sure to let us know in advance, as there are a limited number of spots ... longcrew@omreunionproject.org.
